Weight

The BVM Magnum Trench Box is the largest in the Altrad Generation range, designed specifically for deep pipe-laying activities where greater clearance under struts is needed to accommodate large-diameter pipes. This large trench box for deep excavation gives contractors the working envelope required for demanding projects where standard trench boxes do not provide sufficient under-strut clearance.

The BVM delivers a clearance of 2460mm under strut through a panel height of 4000mm, making this deep pipe laying trench box the right choice where large infrastructure pipes need to be placed at significant depth. Effective to 6.60m, the BVM withstands ground pressure up to 36.41kN/m2. Where pressure exceeds this, manhole braces offer an alternative, and for sites with cross-services, manhole braces or alloy walers are the preferred solution.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the BVM Magnum Trench Box used for?
A: The BVM Magnum is designed for deep pipe-laying where large-diameter pipes need to be installed at depth. The 2460mm clearance under strut gives operatives and equipment the room needed to work safely at the base of deep excavations.

Q: How deep does the BVM Magnum trench box work?
A: The BVM is effective to 6.60m working depth, provided ground pressure does not exceed 36.41kN/m2. If your ground conditions exceed this, a manhole brace system is the recommended alternative.

Q: How does the BVM differ from the BV100 trench box?
A: The BVM Magnum uses a similar design to the BV100 but has a taller panel (4000mm) and provides greater clearance under the strut, allowing larger-diameter pipes to be installed at greater depth.

Q: What should I do if ground pressure exceeds the BVM Magnum SWL?
A: If ground pressure exceeds 36.41kN/m2, manhole braces are the recommended alternative. For sites with cross-services, manhole braces or alloy walers should be specified. Altrad Generation offers a design service for complex ground conditions.

Q: Is the BVM Magnum trench box available for hire?
A: Yes. The BVM Magnum Trench Box is available for hire and sale from Altrad Generation branches across the UK and Ireland. Contact your nearest branch for availability and pricing.
