Altrad Generation supplies acrow props, push-pull props, masonry wall supports and trench struts for hire and sale. All adjustable steel props are manufactured to BS4074:1982 and tested to BS5507-3:1982.
Acrow Props: Altrad Generation's acrow props are adjustable steel supports used for propping floors, ceilings, openings and temporary beams during construction, renovation and structural alteration work. Available in five sizes (0 to 4), the props cover heights from 1040mm to 4880mm, allowing you to select the right size for the working height and structural load on your site.
Each prop uses an outer tube of 60.3mm diameter with an inner tube of 48.3mm diameter. Safe working load varies by size and extension degree. Always confirm the specification with a qualified temporary works engineer before installation.
Push-Pull Props: Adjustable steel push-pull props are designed for holding and plumbing single and double-faced formwork. The lower plate is fixed to a ground anchor and the top plate is fixed to the shutter. Each push-pull prop includes a standard prop collar and an additional locking collar to maintain rigidity. Head and base plates measure 150mm x 150mm x 6mm to BS4360, with a 38mm diameter fixing hole. Fully compliant to BS4074 and tested to BS5507. Available in sizes 0 to 4, covering heights from 1140mm to 4876mm, with safe working loads up to 32kN.
Masonry Wall Support: The Masonry Wall Support (Strongboy) is designed to be used in conjunction with an acrow prop to support brickwork and masonry when installing lintels or creating new wall openings. The blade fits between courses on a double-skin brick cavity wall and can be fitted from either side. It supports walls up to 300mm thick with support positions spaced no more than 900mm apart. Safe working load is 340kg. Zinc plated for long life and low maintenance.
Trench Struts: Altrad Generation's trench struts are used for propping and bracing trench walls during excavation to prevent collapse. Available in four sizes (0 to 3), they feature clawed base and head plates to grip the trench lining tightly. All struts are manufactured to BS4074:2004 and are thread rolled to ensure no cutting away of material or loss of strength. Safe working load is 3 tonnes at any extension length. Outer tube diameter is 60.3mm with an inner tube of 48.3mm.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What are acrow props used for?
A. Acrow props, also known as adjustable steel props, are used for temporary structural support during construction and renovation work. Common applications include propping floors, ceilings and beams while structural alterations are made, supporting masonry when installing lintels or creating new openings, holding and plumbing formwork during concrete pours, and bracing trench walls during excavation when used alongside trench struts.
Q. What sizes do acrow props come in?
A. Altrad Generation supplies acrow props in five sizes, from Size 0 to Size 4. Size 0 covers heights from 1040mm to 1830mm. Size 4 covers heights from 3200mm to 4880mm. The right size depends on your working height and structural load requirements.
Q. What is the difference between acrow props and trench struts?
A. Acrow props are used vertically to support overhead structures such as floors, ceilings and beams during structural work. Trench struts are used horizontally to brace the walls of an open excavation, preventing the trench sides from collapsing during groundwork. Both are adjustable steel supports manufactured to BS4074, but they are designed for different propping applications.
