More about Guardrail Systems

Our range of guardrail systems covers everything you need to protect your team when working at height. Whether you need a guardrail for a scaffolding tower, a walkway, or an elevated platform, you can hire or buy from Altrad Generation's network of branches across the UK.

The Betaguard advance guardrail provides best practice collective protection for aluminium tower users, in line with the Work at Height Regulations. It replaces separate horizontal and diagonal braces with a system of three main components, erects without trip hazards at base level, and includes a walk in or through facility with high clearance.

Also in the range: Builders Trestles for low to medium height access, the Spandeck Walkway, a lightweight aluminium walkway bridge fitted with guardrail posts and guardrails for safe use at height, and Horizontal Safety Lines for additional fall protection.

Contact your local branch to discuss guardrail hire or purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is a guardrail system?
A. A guardrail system is a structure that protects workers from falls when working at height. On aluminium scaffold towers, an advance guardrail system like the Betaguard provides collective protection in line with the Work at Height Regulations. It is available in 1.5m and 2.5m bay sizes. Contact your local branch to find out which option suits your project.

Q. What are the rules for guardrails in the UK?
A. Assembly and dismantling of aluminium towers in the UK must comply with the Work at Height Regulations. Those regulations follow a hierarchical approach that places collective protection above other fall mitigation options. The Betaguard advance guardrail is designed to meet this requirement. Your local branch can advise on the right guardrail system for your application.

Q. What must be included in a guardrail system?
A. The Betaguard advance guardrail integrates bracing directly into its frame, reducing the main components to a total of three and removing the need for separate horizontal and diagonal braces. The system erects without trip hazards at base level and includes a walk in or through facility with high clearance. It can also act as a bridging component to bridge towers.
