Bristol Branch Manager Does Charity Scaffolding

Tim Dixon, Bristol Branch Manager, climbed Pen Y Fan to help build what was hoped to be the highest scaffold tower in the UK. The challenge raised funds and awareness to support Jason Carey, a well-known local community member recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.

A Tower for Jason

On Friday 25th July, Tim Dixon, Branch Manager at Altrad Generation’s Bristol branch, took part in a fundraising challenge to support Jason Carey, who works for our customer Construction Site Scaffolding and is a well-known member of the local community. Following Jason’s recent diagnosis with stage 4 cancer, Tim hiked to the summit of Pen Y Fan to help construct what they hoped would be the highest scaffold tower ever built in the UK. The challenge aimed not only to set a record but also to raise vital funds for Jason and his family. Through the Generate 365 scheme, which allows Altrad Generation employees to volunteer for local charities during paid workdays, and with wider company support, awareness and donations grew, with the GoFundMe campaign already surpassing £22,000.

"I know Jason through his work with our Customer CS Scaffolding, his Diagnosis came very suddenly & completely out of the blue and when I heard about the effort to help raise money to help his family, I felt compelled to join in. Throughout the company we get to know our customers quite well & I believe its important to be part of the local community & help to give where we can.

It was nice that through the Generate 365 scheme, I was both able and encouraged to participate. The GoFundMe for Jason is currently sat at £22000.00 & although we only represent a small proportion of the total contributions, I am grateful to my colleagues within Altrad Generation who helped by making donations. Every little bit helps & the post on SharePoint certainly aided in raising awareness.

The day itself was well attended, the weather was great and there was a collective feeling that the physical sacrifice of both climbing the mountain & carrying up the kit, combined with the money raised, was a small show of solidarity with Jason and his family in what is an extremely difficult time for them"
